Free use
AppHalt Free is designed to be used without an account. No account required. No card required.
Purchases and license delivery
Purchases are handled by Stripe. Payment details are processed by Stripe rather than stored by AppHalt. The email used during checkout is used to send your license key and help with purchase-related support. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Optional pseudonymous app analytics
App analytics are disabled by default. If you enable them in AppHalt Preferences, AppHalt sends exactly one event type: an AppHalt launch. The payload is limited to a random installation identifier, AppHalt version, macOS version, processor architecture, language, and Free/Pro status.
App analytics have no field for app names, bundle identifiers, process identifiers (PIDs), process lists, documents, file names, window titles, app contents, CPU or memory data, email addresses, license keys, Apple IDs, Mac user names, Mac names, or hardware serial numbers.
The random installation identifier is independent of your hardware and accounts. The server replaces it with a salted keyed hash before storing an event. Because that hash can distinguish launches from the same installation until you opt out, these statistics are pseudonymous, not anonymous.
Disabling app analytics stops future collection. The currently published AppHalt 1.9.2 may keep the random identifier in local preferences, but it is not transmitted while analytics is disabled. The next AppHalt update also disconnects pending analytics requests and deletes that identifier on opt-out; enabling analytics again after deletion creates a new identifier. Changing the preference cannot retroactively remove historical records that have already reached the server because AppHalt stores no identity-to-hash lookup.
Optional website analytics
With your permission, this website uses Google Analytics to understand which pages and guides are useful, whether important buttons work, and how visitors reach the download flow. The standard implementation can measure page views, sessions, approximate location, browser and device information, and interactions such as a download-button click. AppHalt does not send your name, email address, payment details, license key, or the names of apps on your Mac to Google Analytics.
Analytics storage is denied by default. You can accept analytics or continue without it from the choice shown on the site. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage and can be reset by clearing site data for apphalt.app. Advertising storage and advertising personalization remain disabled. Google explains its processing in Safeguarding your data and its Privacy Policy.
Support emails
If you contact support, we receive the email address you use and any details you choose to include. This can include your license key, purchase email, device details, screenshots, or a description of the issue.
App information
AppHalt needs to show app state so you can choose what to pause and resume. Avoid sending sensitive information in support messages unless it is needed to resolve your request.
Your choices
You can contact support to ask about information connected to your purchase or support request, or to request correction or deletion when applicable. You can decline optional analytics and still use the website and download AppHalt. For privacy questions, email contact@apphalt.app.
